Early Spring 2016

Well, what a start to March.
Had a great time at Boston, Terry’s apartment and Sunday River, got back in one piece last weekend, then back to work the next day. Good week at work saw K in Aberdeen on friday, said she was a bit thin. Oh dear.
In fact have had three weeks sking this year so far, enjoyed Serre and the Nordic as well as the alpine- what an average skier I am. Shelley recommended lito’s youtube video, I need a lot more practice. I need to in fact start doing some in line skating down the drive and along the road. Pictures later.

Sadly Peter Gemmell died on Monday, brave battle, but sounds a good death at home in the arms of his family.
K and H going, Jean and I are working, Doug and Jenny going with Ruth.

Spent the weekend in the garden. Took the big metal petrol tank up to the garage and filled it with 15 litres of the good stuff, added 150mls of Fuel Fit. Barney started first time, the ride on the same. Drove around the ride on having charged the battery, did not lift the leaves until I went underneath it, having constructed a simple ramp from two lengths of decking board, and cleared out a large plug of dried vegetation obstructing the outflow tract. Important reminder to self- when putting away – use the power jet underneath it too.

Garden slowly coming to life, Galanthus around Max’s grave, winter jasmine still in bloom.

Main effort this weekend was wood harvesting- Stihl behaved itself, so quercus, betula and fagus now drying out. Got rid of the hanging tree from last year by applying a lot of lateral force and letting it swing like a pendulum. Its now in bits as well, drying out on the log stack at the fence.

Le jardin vaut bien un bonfire- soon, could have been today, weather mild, balmy 15 degC, but the Scotland Rugby game was too good to miss.

Highlight of week to come- out to Allangrange with Paul and Marg on Wednesday, her birthday, our 31st. Two trips to Elgin, then off with Barmy for last weekend of the year. Got my new helmet and pair of Alt-Bergs this week. Need to keep fit, Simon H is booking up flights for Corsica
